Tokens act like a password in the back end of Brolly for securely connecting to your social media accounts. Sometimes social media companies like Facebook or Twitter expire or reset a token due to a change in policy, or some other reason. When this happens, Brolly needs to be reconnected to the social media account so that archiving can continue uninterrupted.

We will try and let you know about token expiry. Here’s what to do if you receive a notification email from us, or if you notice for yourself that social media tokens have expired in your Brolly account.

Before you begin:

  1. Log into the social media accounts that have an expired token before you start the reconnection... it makes the process even smoother!
  2. Make sure you have Editor or Admin access to the accounts that need reconnection. If you do not have Editor or Admin access, you will not be able to reconnect.
  3. Make sure your browser has pop ups enabled for the social media account you are reconnecting.
  4. Reach out to us if you need a hand. Email us anytime at support@brolly.com.au - we’re here to help!

Ready? Follow these steps

  1. Log into Brolly and go to Settings, then the Accounts tab. If you have an expired social media token it is clearly marked in your account list.

(If you use Groups, check the accounts lists for Groups by going to Settings, then the Groups tab. Select the three dots ...beside each group to see details, including a list of accounts.)

Select the three dots ... beside an account that has expired tokens, then choose Reconnect.

Note: If you are not logged in to the social media account at this point, a pop up window appears with a prompt to log in and grant Brolly access to your account. Grant access to successfully reconnect.

  2. When you select to reconnect an account, an authorisation window may pop up, asking you to sign in to the social media account as part of the reconnection.

If you are not signed in to the social media account you may be prompted to do so.

  3. For Facebook pages, Facebook Groups, Instagram only
When logged in, and authorised, Brolly redirects you to the Reconnect  screen. Select the account or accounts you want to reconnect by selecting the checkboxes and then clicking Reconnect. Your account tokens are updated and a success message appears.

  4. Check the accounts in the account list. The account page you reconnected should now be marked Active. If the account still says Token expired, try refreshing the page.
