Some customers have asked why Brolly does not allow export from Feeds and Messages in the same export.

This change was introduced in 2020 in response to customer feedback about how these record types need to be treated differently.

Messages are like private conversations. An individual user contacts an organisation using a private channel. For this reason, a private messages is unlike a comment on a public post.

The records in your Brolly Feed are either posts published to your organisation's public channel, or publicly visible comments on those posts. The poster or commenter did not intend for the communication to be private.

Feedback we received was that a records manager would likely treat public posts and comments differnetly to private messages, in considering how they were stored and protected.

Combining private messages and public records in a single export creates a risk that privacy and security of the message content could be inadvertently made available in ways that would not be appropriate.
